چکیده

Aortocoronary venous graft (ACVG) and internal mammary artery graft (IMAG) are currently the two most popular choices for coronary artery bypass. The morphologic alteration and susceptibility to atheromatous degeneration of the IMAG were compared with the ACVG. Six of 12 surviving dogs with IMAGs were fed a hyperlipidemic diet and six were placed on a regular diet. All dogs were sacrificed 3-15 months after surgery. Twelve of 28 long-term surviving dogs with ACVGs were also on hyperlipidemic diets, and all were sacrificed 3-18 months after surgery. Arteriography and electron microscopy were performed in selected cases, and histology was performed in all cases. All long-term IMAGs remained patent; 83 percent (5/6) "-regular" diet arteries were normal, with no intimal proliferation, while 33 percent (2/6) "hyperlipidemic" IMAGs had diffuse atheroma. Eighty-two percent of ACVGs revealed significant atherosclerosis. Severity of arteriosclerotic involvement of the ACVG was far greater than that of the native

Protocol for the Arterial Revascularisation Trial (ART). A randomised trial to compare survival following bilateral versus single internal mammary grafting in coronary revascularisation [ISRCTN46552265]

BACKGROUND Standard coronary artery bypass graft surgery uses a single internal mammary artery and supplemental vein or radial artery grafts. Several observational studies have suggested a survival benefit with two internal mammary artery grafts compared to a single internal mammary artery graft, but this has not been tested in a randomised trial. The Arterial Revascularisation Trial is a Medic...

Clinical implications of internal mammary artery bypass grafts: the Coronary Artery Surgery Study experience.

From the Coronary Artery Surgery Study Registry, all patients undergoing initial bypass surgery procedures with independent vein grafts were identified. The 950 patients receiving an internal mammary artery bypass graft were compared with the 6027 patients receiving vein graft alone. Improved survival rates with internal mammary artery grafts were noted at hospitals in which these grafts were p...

Competitive flow and arterial graft a word of caution.

reliable, exclusively in appropriately selected situations. In creation of bypass grafts, durable completeness of revascularization and function of the ITA to the LAD bypass should not be compromised. We would suggest that the balanced bypass flow toward the LAD and the RCA is noticeably important to achieve an entire patency of the Y-graft for three-vessel regions. This study is not conclusive...

Coronary angiography and computed tomography angiography in the diagnosis of extrinsic compression of left internal mammary artery.

Coronary angiography and computed tomography angiography in the diagnosis of extrinsic compression of left internal mammary artery A 82-year-old man with a previous coronary artery bypass graft was admitted to our hospital for recurrent and refractory episodes of rest angina with electrocardio-graphic signs of anterior myocardial ischemia. Coronary angiography revealed a three-vessel obstructiv...
